Christmas morning, and Hayley Marie Coppin has been very, very good this year. Her best friend Amiee came through as Santa with the most perfect gift: a brand new DSLR camera, shiny and black and full of possibilities. Hayley is sprawled across the cream sofa in her beautiful lounge, tall arched windows flooding the room with pale winter light, crystal glasses and white vases catching the glow on the sill. She is wearing an oversized navy blue plaid flannel shirt hanging open at the front, pink lace knickers beneath, and the kind of grin that says the camera is absolutely getting used right now. Colourful wrapped Christmas presents surround her on the cushions, and she could not look more delighted with her morning.
She turns the lens on herself, because of course she does, and what begins as a cosy Christmas portrait quickly becomes something far more interesting. The plaid shirt opens wider with each self-taken frame, revealing the warm gold of her skin and then the full, spectacular beauty of her topless figure, framed perfectly by the pale winter light from those high windows. Hayley presses the shutter with a wide, laughing smile, completely in her element, documenting the whole glorious thing. This camera was the best gift anyone could ever receive. The photos it produced on its very first day are the proof.
